Sights worth seeing

Adelaide

Glenelg

The small town Glenelg is the beach destination of Adelaide. Already the journey with the historical tram from midtown Adelaide directly to Glenelg (takes about 25 minutes) is an experience in itself. Glenelg does not only offer sun and beach but also pretty boardwalks and alleys with boutiques, restaurants and cosy locations to relax.

Parks

The numerous parks in the city of Adelaide are unmissable. These parks are the green lungs of the city and do not only provide a lot of space for relaxation and sport activities but also for many free festivals and events. With justification Adelaide is called the “garden city”.

South Australian Museum

This huge museum offers insights into different cultures and epochs on 6 floors and has something to offer for everyone. It has the biggest collection of aboriginal art and handicraft but also thousand year old fossils, a permanent exhibition about the explorers of the Antarctic, about the old Egypt or the fauna with loads of full-size taxidermied animals from all over the world. You can spend an exciting and informative day at the South Australian Museum in the middle of the city.

Barossa Valley

Barossa Valley is one of the biggest wine-growing areas of Australia. You can reach the green valley comfortably in only 1.5 hours. Degust the noble wines or stroll around the alleys, visit the boutiques of the village or take a break in one of the many small restaurants.

Kangaroo Island

Located directly in front of the coast of Adelaide, this island should be on your must-see list when visiting South Australia. Wonderful landscapes with exceptional rock formations, far-off bays and animals like kangaroos, koalas, seals, penguins, dolphins etc. make the visitors hearts beat faster.

Flinders Ranges

You will experience the ultimate outback adventure with a stay in the Flinders Ranges. No matter if you do journeys, walking or horse riding tours in the Flinders Range National Park, you will enjoy the infinite width of the Australian outback. The National Park is only a six hours ride away from Adelaide.

Brisbane

Southbank

It’s not possible to imagine the cityscape of Brisbane without the remnant of the wold exhibition of 1988, the park of Southbank on the riverside of the Brisbane River. There is an artificial beach and countless pleasant flowery decorated paths and places to stroll around and linger. Southbank is one of the most popular places in the city for young and old as well as for locals and tourists.

Queen Street Mall

The shopping area of Brisbane. Numerous shops and cafés along the Queen Street in the centre of the city invite you to stroll around the pedestrian area. At the beginning of Queen Street, a big fountain which dashes over long tables and chairs with water is striking. On a hot summer day one wishes to sit down on the water chairs and let rest the shopping tired legs.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

One of the largest animal parks of Australia is located about eleven kilometres outside of Brisbane. Especially koalas but also many other exotic Australian animals are being held in a protected environment and taken care of. In Lone Pine tourists can learn a lot about the Australian flora and fauna, feed hand-tame kangaroos and even pet cuddly koalas.

Lookout Mount Coot-tha

The best view of the city of Brisbane you will certainly have from the lookout of the close by Mount Coot-tha. On bright days you can even see the outback or the sea in direction of Moreton Bay. Thanks to the peak restaurant of the Mount Coot-tha, food is also provided.

Moreton Island

The Moreton Island belongs to the three big sand islands in front of the coast of Brisbane (together with Bribie Island and Fraser Island, the biggest sand island of the world). Because the Moreton Island is located only 34 kilometres from Brisbane in front of the coast of Queensland and is easily reachable with a fast ferry from Brisbane, it is not only a popular weekend destination but also convenient for day trips. Today, 98% of the surface of the island is covered with the Moreton Island National Park and the government has encouraged soft tourisms in the last years.

Byron Bay

Cape Byron

The Cape Byron is the easternmost point of Australia. You will find there an incredibly beautiful lighthouse. Enjoy the panoramic view!

Whale Watching

In Byron Bay you can go on whale watching tours with professional guides. Because Byron Bay is the easternmost point of Australia, whales stop by on their way to the tropical waters.

Cape Byron Headland Reserve

This reserve is run by a merging of local companies and includes spectacular cliffs, heavenly beaches and the typical coastal vegetation. Moreover, a huge grid of interesting and exciting hiking trails spreads out the whole area which is definitely worth exploring. You can not only enjoy a view on cliffs and beaches but also see into the local flora and fauna.

Maroochydore

Sunshine Castle Bli Bli

This historical castle was built in the year 1971 and is a beautiful cultural excursion destination.
