Byron Bay is the most easterly point of Australia, situated about 200 kilometers south of Brisbane. This small city has the character of a village, and is located in a big bay. Very long, sand beaches and great waves to surf have made Byron Bay into a famous tourist resort, especially for young travellers. Byron Bay is not only known for its great surfing, you can also scuba dive in the corals of the Great Barrier Reef, hike through the beautiful forests, or simply watch the Dolphins off the beaches.
Byron Bay has approx. 12'000 inhabitants and would have grown much more, had the local officials not imposed a halt to building and further development. This gives the city a relaxing atmosphere, in very natural surroundings.
Pubs, taverns and discos guarantee a great night life in Byron Bay. It is the ideal place for youngsters and for people young at heart who want to get away from the daily stress and learn English in a relaxed atmosphere.
